Emmaus is a group whose purpose is to encourage the spiritual and communal growth of St. Francis of Assisi Parish.  Several times a year, we offer programs of talks, reflection, sharing, prayer, penance and mass.  Our most recent programs have been held on a weekday evening; however, we have also held programs on Saturday.  In addition, we have one fund-raiser a year, a fish fry during Lent.

Emmaus meets about four times a year.  We ask our members to make as many meetings as they can, and to participate in our programs, again, when possible.

Emmaus members prepare our parish programs by choosing topics, preparing talks, leading discussion groups, baking cakes, organizing and setting up refreshments.  For our fish-fry dinner, our members sell tickets, organize take-out dinners, serve meals, setup and clean up.  Everyone does what he or she is comfortable doing.

Most important of all, our members pray that our group be open to the Holy Spirit in our service to our parish of St. Francis of Assisi.

Emmaus extends a welcome to anyone in the parish who wishes to come to a meeting or to one of our programs.  We welcome ideas about new ways in which we can encourage growth in spirit and in community at St. Francis of Assisi.

If you would like more information, call Pat Demarest at 973-831-6513.
