St. Francis of Assisi Council #2617 - Yearly Activities
 

All men in our Parish, 18 and over, are invited to join us in continuing to serve our CHURCH, our CHARITIES, our COMMUNITY, our FAMILIES and our YOUTH.  We conduct these membership drives because we need new members to help us to continue the work we set for ourselves as listed below.  We would like to think that there may be something of interest to you, in fact we welcome any new interest you might want to bring to the council.  We invite you to join and work with us.

CHURCH

Provide manpower at Annual Parish Carnival
Provide Ushers, lectors and Eucharistic Ministers
Attend Mass for the Unborn
Participate in National March for Life

CHARITY

Conduct Annual retarded Citizens Drive, contributing proceeds to the Felician School
    for  Exceptional Children
Donate to Deborah Hospital
Donate to Eva's Kitchen and Little Sisters of the Poor

Community

Provide manpower and assistance at Annual Blood Drive in January
March in Memorial Day Parade, and participate in Services
Give out awards recognizing community service

YOUTH

Sponsor a Little League team.
Conduct a Basketball Free Throw Contest
Sponsor Academic Awards at St. Francis of Assisi School
Conduct Essay Contest at all Borough Schools
Conduct Spelling Bee for all 8th Grade Borough Schools
"Pennies to Heaven" Drive to provide tuition for a child to attend
    St. Francis of Assisi School

Social/family events during the year
Memorial flags on graves of deceased Knights
Glasses collected for the "Eyes for the Needy"
Christmas Party
